Monaco Family

Thursday, December 19, 2013

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing my beautiful friend Jackie along with her hubby and adorably cute daughter Ilanna for some updated family/Christmas card images.  The last time you saw Jackie & Paolo was here last winter for their baby bump session and while I didn't get to photograph Ilanna's newborn session because they were living out of the country at the time I was so excited to get her in front of my camera for this session because she was so engaging and nothing but big smiles for the whole session!  We took advantage of the fall foliage and the setting sun (this is now officially my absolute FAVORITE time to shoot, the sun is simply incredible!) and were able to capture some really fun moments of this gorgeous family of three!
I'm so looking forward to you living state side again J, selfishly because I missed you of course but also so I can continue to capture such fun images of your family as Ilanna grows up! xoxo

Bjork twins

Thursday, November 28, 2013

When Lauren found out she was having twins, she emailed us and secured her session months in advance so I knew just from that one gesture alone she and her husband were very excited to be welcoming their babies into this world and really would treasure beautiful images of them.  I was anxiously excited to be photographing her little ones because while I've done many newborns, I had never done TWO newborns together in the same session but with a boosted confidence from my photographer inspiration Kristyn over at Laura Leigh Images I was able to capture some classic individual newborn images of both William & Julia separately while rounding the session out with the two of them together.
I had an absolutely wonderful time meeting the newest members of your family Lauren and couldn't be happier for you and Mike, congratulations on your beautiful family!

Ciavarro Family

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

The Ciavarro family was our very first ever family session we did here at ELLA portraits and I remember, a little over a year ago, Ellie & I planning it out and coming up with ideas and figuring it out as we went along and how anxiously nervous and excited we both were to be doing this.  In a years time, we have both grown so much more confident and comfortable in our skills and ability and combined we have shot 11 full family session (not inclusive of all the babies we've captured!) which means meeting up with the Ciavarro's a year later I couldn't WAIT to have some fun with them, knowing the images I would be capturing for them would be even better than last year's.
Additionally, I have to give a shout out to Kelly, she has been one of, if not, the biggest supporter of Ellie & I, recommending us to her friends and purchasing numerous gift certificates for baby shower gifts, helping us to continue to grow our client base.  Thank you so much Kelly, we are so grateful for your support and friendship!!
Alright, now onto the images, I have so many favorites it was really hard to pick so enjoy a handful of my favs!!

3 month old Mason

Monday, November 25, 2013

Mason's mom was given an ELLA portraits gift certificate at her shower and we were able to coordinate a session when Mason was just a bit older at 3 months to capture some images of him.  He was a sweet little man who loved following my camera and smiling at his Mom throughout the entire session!  We were also able to capture some family images on the front steps of their home.  There is something sweet about doing at home sessions and being able to photograph families in their normal environment because if and when they move from this home they will always be able to look back at these photos and show Mason his first home where they were a new family together.

See what did I tell you?!  Big smiles!!

Raabe Family

Sunday, November 24, 2013

After just writing the title for this post, "Raabe Family" I realized how exciting it was to be able to do that because my friend & ELLA portraits partner Ellie now has a family!!  The last time you saw Ellie & Aaron on the blog was here, capturing beautiful images of the baby bump and celebrating/waiting for their baby to arrive.  Ellie & Aaron chose to wait to know the gender (a recent trend I've seen a lot of!) until the baby arrived and they were blessed with a gorgeous baby girl, Evelyn.  Since Ellie & Aaron moved to Baltimore, my husband and I went to visit to check out their home and to finally meet baby Evelyn and can I tell you, what a happy, beautiful, sweet little girl she is already.  Ok, Ok, I might be a bit biased but seriously, she is!  I of course brought my camera to capture some family images for them and have been so excited to share some with you.
Congratulations Ellie & Aaron, your daughter is simply beautiful, I can't wait to see the amazing person she will grow to become.

Aaron is a huge Baltimore Orioles fan so we had to get one of the fam at Camden Yards

Maddy's One

Sunday, October 13, 2013

We've had so much fun over the past year capturing Maddy when she was brand new here and then again when she was 3 months old here so getting to see her again on her very first birthday was a pleasure and an honor.  It's truly incredible how much children grow in their first year, I can't recommend enough the ability to remember it all through beautiful portraits captured by ELLA portraits.  But to chat a bit about my time with Maddy, I have to tell you I had a blast running around with her at the Elmbank Reservation in Natick in the Garden for Children, my second time shooting in this location.  She JUST learned how to walk which meant plenty of falling down and getting back up again, all the while with a big beautiful smile on her face!  Thank you b-spired for creating the beautiful wooden laser cut #1, I mean, it's only once in your life you get to take an adorable picture like that!
Check out a few of my favorites below (it was really hard to choose!)

Can we talk about the LASHES on this one?!

Marble Family

Thursday, October 10, 2013

I had the pleasure of capturing gorgeous family images for the Marble's and this beautiful family made it all too easy for me.  I knew I was in for a good time when their eldest daughter, Grace, met me when I pulled in the driveway and asked, "Are you Laura the photographer here to take our pictures?" and when I replied, "Why yes I am!" she proceeded with, "Well good, I've been waiting to meet you all morning, let me show you everything" and walked me around her yard and house pointing out every imaginably interesting thing a small little one would find to be so in this world.  It was at that point that I knew I was in for a good time!  I was initially there to capture 3 month images of their youngest daughter, Chloe, who was a sweet doll and so calm and enjoyable to be around.  We then moved outside to their backyard to capture some family images and I have to say, this was the most lifestyle-like images I have ever taken, think less posed and more in the moment.  This really pushed me creatively and stepping out of my comfort zone a bit was great because I truly love what I captured, check out a few of my favorites below!
Thank you J & J for inviting me into your home, it was a pleasure getting to know your lovely family!

O'Shea Baby Bump

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Roughly 2 years ago all of my friends, including my husband and I, were all getting married so it was a crazy time filled with bridal showers and bridesmaids dresses and gorgeous weddings.  Flash forward 2 years from then to now and all of my friends are pregnant or having babies so it is a crazy time filled with baby showers and onesies and gorgeous babies.  I have had the pleasure of capturing & sharing with you 2 of my best friends and their bumps, here & here, and today I get to share my 3rd with you below, gorgeous Lauren, her handsome husband Paul and of course, the bump!

Lauren & I have been friends since college, the kind of friends that are in each others weddings and have too many stories that start off with "remember that time?" and will be there for each other no matter what forever, the very best kind of friends in my book.  And Paul & I have been friends since I heard about him as the "cute guy at work" and knew him and Lauren were it when I saw them together for the first time, just one of the best guys you'll ever know.  So to be able to capture this beautiful moment in their lives was one of the best moments for me and I am so happy I was able to do this for them!  I did one session with Lauren & Paul in a more urban location with Boston as our backdrop and then stole Lauren for another session to do just her and the bump with a more natural backdrop.  Love both of you so very much and can not WAIT to meet your little one in a few short months, she better be ready for some serious spoiling!

And before I conclude this post and let you check out the gorgeousness below I have to be sure to give a shout out to two AWESOME creatives that do beautiful work, so you need to go check them out!
First up is MeTooCharms a local jewelry designer that creates custom charm necklaces, their work is adorable and great for SO MANY occasions.  Check out their work below and LIKE them on Facebook, the necklace charms say "baby O" & have a baby footprint, how cute?!  And second up is one of my other best friends Betsey, owner and creator of b-spired who creates custom wooden lasercut greeting cards and invitations.  I asked her to create some unique wooden art to use and you'll see that below as well.  Her stuff is crazy good be sure to give her a LIKE as well.

Alright already, enough chatter, onto the photographs, enjoy!!

Swift Family

Thursday, September 19, 2013

I had the pleasure of doing a multigenerational session with the Swift family at the beautifully versatile Gardens for Charlestown, a gorgeous community garden right in Charlestown.  It offered a soft and inviting backdrop for some updated portraits for this family.  This all came about because the sweet matriarch of the family wanted to give her husband a gift of updated portraits of her with her daughters and her new granddaughter and I was more than happy to do just that (great idea N!).  We had a wonderful time together and as you can see below, they made my job all too easy.
Thank you Swift family and love the new location, I'll remember this one!
